Diwali is one of the major festivals of India. Diwali also know as “Festival Of Lights”, is celebrated as homecoming of King Ram of Ayodhya after 14 year exile in the forest.
Diwali aka Deepawali is celebrated on first day of lunar Kartik Month. As the night is dark as there is no moon, it is famous that people of Ayodhya welcomed King Rama by lightening Deepaks thus named Dipawali.
On this day Goddess Lakshmi is worshiped to welcome health, wealth and prosperity.
