Amritsar Trip 10 – 11 June 2009
Written by Anurag Bhateja on June 12, 2009 – 4:45 pm -This two day journey has bought many changes in my thinking. The journey started with a unique problem as the bus people somehow managed to give same seat to 3 people including me. LOL!! It was a real fun to see the other two guys fighting like cats for the same seat. Unlike typical Punjabi behavior I usually show, I stepped out of he discussion without saying a single word and asked the conductor what he can do for me. He offered his seat till Navansheher as there two seat were going to be vacant.
Reaching Amritsar was like entering a traffic disaster. If you are living in a city like Chandigarh where people at least try to follow traffic rules, you can not survive in Amritsar. I do not know of what special material God used while molding those people. Somehow I managed to get a room in a budget hotel near Harmandir Sahib. After 30 minutes of relaxing I moved out to complete the schedule of 7 meetings which kind of killed me. The Sun was really in mood of sucking each and every drop of energy in the body. But I had no choice as I have to complete the work. At around 3:50 PM, I reached back to room, fixed the place and time to meet one sweet friend (poor she! She really worked hard on her schedule to find time for me! Thanks
). After that I went to sleep as I have to meet her only after 5:30 PM.
At 5:00 PM I received a call from client who wanted to meet and the most amazing thing happened was that it was near the same venue! He took only 15 minutes. Too good client as he nodded head on every thing and finalized the offered prices without any hesitations! I moved to CCD near MK hotel then as my friend would be there anytime. I spent some quality time with an old friend, oh sorry sorry! Seven month old friend
. hehe.
It was really too good to meet her and spend time with her. I clarified many things which I thought were important to. But still there are somethings which I still wanted to convey but time problem
. While returning back to room I was a bit in bad mood as the conversation between me and her bought out some thoughts of mine which again started hurting me. Anyway, I managed to get hold of myelf but in meanwhile sent some very long sms to two of friends. God they must be angry on me hehe.
After having dinner, I enjoyed 10 overs of the match between India and Ireland and after that I was all gone. As I have to wake up at 3:00 AM it was important to sleep.
. Fortunately I managed to wake up at 3:00 AM and at around 3:45 I was ready to hit the way to Harmandir Sahib. The most amazing thing was Golden temple was hardly on 5 min walk from the place I was staying.
Now first thing I want to point is, I am not that good when it comes to Gurudwaras as till date I never felt like going there. But this trip changed the feelings. In many ways the administration of Harmandir Sahib touched my soul from deep. The first best thing I noticed about the place is the cleanliness. Can you imagine, despite of the fact that 1000’s of people visit the place everyday, I managed to get less dirt under my feet than I got at my hotel room while walking here and there bare feet.
Another beauty is the system. Everything is so planned and systematic that I was really astonished! I didn’t find people breaking ques there. Each and every thing was moving very systematically. I do not understand that why we the Hindus, when visit Hindu Mandir, we become the main cause of spreading garbage but when we come to Harmandir sahib we become so good human being! But after thinking a bit I found that the reason are we only. Anyway, this I will continue some other time.Looking at the beautiful fishes in the holy pond was real fun. After doing darshan, I clicked some pics which can be found below in the gallery.
The main thing about the second day was less meetings and more roaming here and there. I had some work in bank. yes! bank has not left me alone here too! And Yes, I forgot to mention that the last post I wrote was posted from Amritsar only. I managed to find one cafe which was quite fast than one which was located in the Harmandir Sahib. There is one but is very slow.
After completing the work fo bank and meetings, I moved to Reliance web world which I visited on first day too. I think I spent two and half hours there and after than their generator broke down and I have to leave the premises. I then moved to the same CCD and met one guy with whom I fixed the meeting in the morning. After that small meet and waiting for the same friend, I felt how busy I keep myself in Chandigarh. Having nothing to do not at all my type! Anyway, she came but had another meeting as same place where I met her i.e. Bakes and Beans. After waiting for her meeting to get finished I started feeling bored and fortunately her colleague noticed that and asked me to join them. As I was feeling a bit hesitated to meet him as I am not so good in dramatics and theater, I somehow managed to get indulge in the talks. He was a nice guy to meet and when he was driving his car to drop me to auto stand, I managed to make sure that I am going to be pat of their theater venture hehe. Come On! How can I miss a chance for creating network!
The main changes this trip bought is, I have started taking problems lightly and totally feeling good as I know what I have to do for making sure that what I want I should get. Anyway, This is all happened in 40 hours in Amritsar. Hoping for another trip soon
