I was surfing the Internet to find an apartment for my friend who is shifting to Canada in few days and found a very interesting website named Craigslist.org . I was amazed to see how much information it has! So I thought why not give it a review here.

Founded in 1995 as email distribution list by Craig Newmark, in 1996 it got online as a website. From that day till 2000, Craigslist got expanded in 9 US cities and by 2009 it has expanded to whooping 570 cities in 50 countries! Craigslist has about 28 employees which work day and night to keep it clean and a place worth search for classified ads. The best thing is its a free service. The main revenue source is paid ads from different cities whose prices vary from city to city.

Though company has never disclosed about the ownership and financial reports but it is believed that Newmark has the largest stake and ebay holds 25% of the stake in the company. Newmark has told Wall Street once that company do not believe in maximizing keeping the interest of the public on back foot. As per him, the website always try to help people in finding cars, apartments, dates and other services to their nearest location.

In 2009, Craigslist decided to drop exotic service section and replace it by Adult services. This section is paid @ USD 10 and can be renewed on USD 5. This decision comes after allegations by several US states that the erotic services ads were being used for prostitution.

While surfing proprofs.com, I came to conclusion that the thing I am looking at is more than I imagined! This was the first expression. Proprofs was formed in 2005 and is gaining popularity very quickly. The tagline, The Knowledge Freeway, fits the website as it has so many unique features at one place.

The main reason you should visit the website and try out the features is the ease of handling each and everything. Once you are registered on the website, you will not feel like doing it for the first time. The interface, tutorials on how to do, the tours, examples, everything is so well planed and user friendly that you will love to use them.

Some features that interest me are:
1. Polls: It was like a piece of cake while working on creation of Online polls. The best thing is I can embed them on my website also! I can also block IP or by using a cookie avoid multiple submissions by single user.

2. Blogs: Visitors can register as members and write blog there.

3. Quizzes: You can go there and make your own quizzes and use them for any purpose like classrooms, interviews, surveys or whatever you like.

Other than that, information on certified courses like of CISCO, MicroSoft, Comptia and CIW, Flash Cards, SAT and other resources are delight.
