Are you updating your blog/website?

Written by Anurag Bhateja on December 27, 2008 – 6:31 am -

I don’t understand why every time a person gets his/her blog done from a professional blog expert, why he/she thinks “Oh wow I will start earning now!”. Sorry to disappoint you this is not true. If you have got a website it is very important to update it on regular basis.

Sometimes, it may happen that you are too busy and can not update your website very often. In such a case you have many options on which you can work on.
1. Hire expert writers who can write for you if you want your blog like a tutorial website, review blog or something like this.
2. If it is a personal blog and you want to give it a touch of yourself then a superb option of scheduling blog is there in blog CMS like wordpress. (This is one of the main reason why I love wordpress!). You can schedule the post for even months or years!

The thing is if you search for the keyphrase “Content is king” on Google you will be amazed to know how important is content and getting your blog updated.

This is the point for blogs but what about websites. Company websites do not have enough exposure for content update. In that case companies also have good number of options.
1. They can have company’s official blog.
2. They can have News Update section in which they can post their daily/weekly updates about the company.
3. They can have sections for clients in which they can find latest information about your staff and style of working. Posting about new projects which company gets, is also a good option to post.
4. Companies can have newsletter section, guestbook etc which will update the content in search engines.

This has to be kept in mind that today is the age of repidly increasing content over the internet. Posting unique and different kind fo content will not only make you popular but also will make it possible for you to earn more from your ventures. Nice niche is not enough but great content is what you need.

My New Year Resolution

Written by Anurag Bhateja on December 26, 2008 – 9:31 am -

Well well… One more disturbing year is coming to an end and I am really feeling that this year should not get repeated. There is not even a single field in which I did not feel that I am not having problem. Either it is family or business almost everything got screwed. But some of the things really made me feel good.

1. I got some really good clients including Can Asia, OCCS, Forte Realtors and some other.
2. Started taking photography seriously whose result I will publish on 29th Dec 2008. ;)
3. Mom shifted to Chandigarh!!! Woopie!
4. My Graduation got completed in one go! Man it was hard to do business and studies all together :p
5. Became Financial Consultant under HDFC Standard Life.
6. Made few new resellers under my firm which I will discuss in some other post.
7. Made some new friends in field of photography and hey I am getting noticed by people now ;). Its fun to listen to people who love your work hehe.

Now as the year is almost finished, I want to check if I can do what I want to so I am making a public “New Year Resolution”.

1. I will keep my spirit of assignments and will try to participate in as many new year contests as I can. (Do you know about anything about websites where photography competitions/contests are held? If yes, its a humble request to let me know.)
2. I will concentrate on domain and hosting business. (Development sometimes sucks as many people don’t want to pay on time, so I will take limited orders only.)
3. I will promote my blog as much as I can and will set target for subscriptions and visitors every month so that I can increase my online presence.
4. I will try my level best to get my financial status on track in first three months of 2009.
5. I will try not to get indulge in any kind of stupid stuff like some partnership or something. Some people really disappointed me in 2008.
6. I will not allow anyone to control my business as some tried this year. (Hehe they are going to get a kick in their ass soon in this year. Beware you!)
7. I will buy a Car by end of this year! Well this is dream and I know dreams come true ;)
8. I will buy a new DSLR and by God that will be GOOD ONE.
9. Last but not least I will loose the extra pounds on me hehe.

Is Your Name In Your Hand?

Written by Anurag Bhateja on October 24, 2008 – 12:44 pm -

Confused? Please do not get confused. From last two years, I am looking it as a trend in market to get your name as a domain name. But what is the importance? Can we make more money with it? Does “Adsense” or other advertising solutions like “Chitika” like domain name on the name of people? No, this can’t be the reason! Then why so much enthusiasm in registering my own name as domain name?

Lets see what happens when you are active over the internet in any case like you are a blogger, teacher, player, actor or whatever, people start searching for you or you can say start ‘Google!’ing about you. Even if I come to know across a name which claims to be famous in some field I try to Google his/her name.

My friends often ask me why I write “Google Me” in my signatures on some places like social websites. I simply say just go and try me on Google! ( http://www.google.com/search?q=anurag+bhateja ) Being owner of AnuragBhateja.com and running a blog on it, its very easy to trace me and get in touch of me.

This, not only help one in making himself/herself a brand over the internet, but also help in increasing business and this will make you a trustworthy name being present on Internet openly. Its not important that you should only “write a blog” or put only about you over the Internet. Bloggers like Amit Bhawani offer great source of information where as I blog about me, my life, my interest, use blog to overcome my frustration (sometimes), write movie reviews I see and also write some tutorials on photography or even on how to live a bachelors life :P.

Many big names like Aamir Khan, Salman Khan have their names as domain name and also few newbie actors like Tanya Abrol (Chak De Fame), Anjum Batra (Coming in a Comic role in a movie which is launching in December 2008).

No matter what you do, what you like/dislike, if you spend time on internet like an addict or spend a very small span of time over the Internet, you want just an online diary or want to run a full time earning source over the internet, your name as your domain name can be a BIG boom for you. After all it’s just a matter of $9!!! Go ahead and get your name before anyone else do who share same name as you are already late!!!!

For boosting you up have a look on few websites:

http://anuragbhateja.com
http://amitbhawani.com

See what others have to say:

Amit Bhawani – A web developer from Hyderabad is a SEO Expert and updates his blog every day on a schedule.

In the beginning i registered this domain name just to make sure i have my identity registered on the web because my projects starting moving bigger and i wanted to make sure that my personal name is under my control and no other competitor can take advantage of my name. Recently i completed a year full of blogging on my blog after which there were numerous people who started using their personal names and registering domain names.

There are multiple advantages other than making money from them, like branding which means instead of having a normal Business/Personal Card you can have a card, you can have your personal domain name also listed there which adds up better value and makes it more professional, check out my personal card.

You can see in the above business card that i have more preferance to my domain name because thats my online identity and anyone should recognize me with the domain name and then find me there where i have all my information like about me page, contact details etc.

Another advantage would be that you would be in the top of the search engines which is very important for long term because there are many chances your enemies/business competitors would try to defame you. If you search for my name in the search engines like – http://www.google.com/search?q=Amit+Bhawani you can find that most of the top results are related to my own name and hence it would be bit harder for scammers to rank for my name because i have setup my identity over years.

Another important points worth considering would be to have a good about page with legit/real info on ownself because it builds trusts among your readers. If you read my about page – you can find that i have written about how it all got started and what i currently do, this way some people even contact you for business opportunities.

Check out this link to know more on important points for writing a about page – http://www.thewwwblog.com/about-page.html

Hope this small guide would be beneficial to you for building a personal name brand and why personal domain names have a great value. PS – Last month AmitBhawani.com got a offer of 80000$ isnt it exciting that a 10$ costing domain name can get such huge offers?

Himanshu Khagta: Photographer, pro blogger and web developer.

Your name as a domain will not generate much interest in search engines unless you type your own name, but still I think its important. You can improve your reputation by using it everywhere and its also a style statement sometimes. Like when sometimes people ask for your email address, you can give cool answers like, “You can find it on my website, blabla.com [http://blabla.com] !” or you can always use a professional looking email address when you’ve bought your own domain. Mine is himanshu@khagta.com , its google enabled and I can use any service from google like gtalk etc with it. This is different, because anyone can us gmail or yahoo or msn in their email id’s, but you own domain email is different.
