The Indian Budget 2009 — UPA-2 brings the UNEXPECTED
Written by Anurag Bhateja on July 7, 2009 – 1:44 pm -
After the rail budget was announced, I was hoping atleast Pranab Mukherjee will do some sensible things in his budget but to my horror both Banerjee and Mukherjee proved they are the same. I am not able to find a single thing on which I should say Oh Yes! this is what was required at the time of financial crisis. This budget is something like which was not expected by any corporate. NOT EVEN A SINGLE THING FOR CORPORATES. The market fell down. Resulting in loss of crores, the budget gave a shock to market.
I was expecting the non taxable income to increase from 1.5 lakhs to atleast 2 lakhs for individual but it was increased only by 10,oo0 INR for men and women and 15,000 INR for senior citizens. This means no matter if I earn 10 lakhs this year, I will onl get savings of 1030 INR which is almost nothing. This amount can not even support my movie tickets for JUly 2009 lolz.
Main issues for me atleast:
1. Nothing for uplift of market.
2. Where is de-investment????
I do not find any benefit of decreasing duty on mobile, computers and goods like that. They always do this but overall price remains same.
Thought government has decreased price of medicine related to heart diseases but they must have taken action on de-addiction also. I am still not finding any part of budget for sports. Where is that Mr.Pranab? Still you are happy with single Gold Medal in olympics for which Govt. never helped Abhinav? Do we need more corporates who can make their children go futher for “The Country” in sports? Hey we have good cricketers though! All hail BCCI!!
Good part of Budget:
1. For farmers. All the points like increase of repayment time for loan and new jobs for rural areas is good. But where is more money for infrastructure for schools in rural area? Primary education? Hello?? Anyone listening? Or still you want to yell for reservation in higher studies like you did last time in UPA-1?
2. It was said that 120 crores will be spent on Identity cards. If you are talking about single identity card for all purposes I AM HAPPY!
This is just a small overview of what I think of budget. I do not find much benefits for me in this but for some people it may look good. May be in long run there would be some benefit but overall I AM NOT THAT HAPPY.
