My New Year Resolution
Written by Anurag Bhateja on December 26, 2008 – 9:31 am -Well well… One more disturbing year is coming to an end and I am really feeling that this year should not get repeated. There is not even a single field in which I did not feel that I am not having problem. Either it is family or business almost everything got screwed. But some of the things really made me feel good.
1. I got some really good clients including Can Asia, OCCS, Forte Realtors and some other.
2. Started taking photography seriously whose result I will publish on 29th Dec 2008. ![]()
3. Mom shifted to Chandigarh!!! Woopie!
4. My Graduation got completed in one go! Man it was hard to do business and studies all together ![]()
5. Became Financial Consultant under HDFC Standard Life.
6. Made few new resellers under my firm which I will discuss in some other post.
7. Made some new friends in field of photography and hey I am getting noticed by people now
. Its fun to listen to people who love your work hehe.
Now as the year is almost finished, I want to check if I can do what I want to so I am making a public “New Year Resolution”.
1. I will keep my spirit of assignments and will try to participate in as many new year contests as I can. (Do you know about anything about websites where photography competitions/contests are held? If yes, its a humble request to let me know.)
2. I will concentrate on domain and hosting business. (Development sometimes sucks as many people don’t want to pay on time, so I will take limited orders only.)
3. I will promote my blog as much as I can and will set target for subscriptions and visitors every month so that I can increase my online presence.
4. I will try my level best to get my financial status on track in first three months of 2009.
5. I will try not to get indulge in any kind of stupid stuff like some partnership or something. Some people really disappointed me in 2008.
6. I will not allow anyone to control my business as some tried this year. (Hehe they are going to get a kick in their ass soon in this year. Beware you!)
7. I will buy a Car by end of this year! Well this is dream and I know dreams come true ![]()
8. I will buy a new DSLR and by God that will be GOOD ONE.
9. Last but not least I will loose the extra pounds on me hehe.

Getting unusual candle shots!
Written by Anurag Bhateja on April 20, 2008 – 8:00 pm -This is one of the most appreciated shots that I have uploaded on flickr. Till date it got 280+ views. Now I am revealing the secret behind this shot for amateur photographers.
1. 1st this required is multiple number of different sized candles.
2. 2nd most important thing is a dark area like a closed room or you can do it at night time. I used the area under stairs in night time and switched off all the lights around me.
3. Now Set your cam to manual and get the settings shutter 1/200, f/2.7 and ISO 100. Well these are the settings I used you can vary F value for variation in DOF.
4. Now set the mode to super macro.
5. Light up the candles. Set the candles in the style you want. I took three candles and tilted them so that each one give support to other candles.
6. Now if you click the shot the flame will come straight. The real thing starts here. Shooting in area where there is lot of moment in air, good shots will not come. To get shots better along with moment in flame you have to just blow air from your mouth very lightly.
7. Continues practice and some shots will surly give you a cool unusual shot!
Enjoy!

Ghosty Images – Small and simple tutorial
Written by Anurag Bhateja on April 16, 2008 – 12:33 pm -
This shot is taken in Nehru park Abohar. The person standing in blue t-shirt is my cousin and you can see my translucent structure just behind him on the right side. Now this is not done without any image software like photoshop or something but is done with a very simple camera trick which is being used from decades by the people who love making people FOOL.
If you are not a photofreak then you must know what is shutter speed before getting info on how to do this. Every camera has a shutter which is opened when you click the button for a perticular period of time which can vary from 1/3200 to 15 seconds in normal Digital cameras like mine one, i.e. Canon PowerShot S5IS. Now for this perticular time the light will be allowed to enter and the sensor will process the image according to the lights and surroundings. Higher the number of shutter speed higher will be the time for which the shutter will be kept open.
For doing such a freaky picture, which is VERY VERY easy, you must know how to set exposure or shutter speed in manual mode of your camera. Now set shutter speed/exposure to highest value available according to the lights available around you. Such shots work better in dark time. In this case I have used shutter speed 15″. Now set the timer to your convinience and place it either on tripod or some static place. Don’t keep it in you hand otherwise it will come jearky. If you want to come in the frame, press the click button and before the timer gets over come in the frame. count till 1/2 time in your mind and go out of the frame. Let the camera process the image and wallah ITS DONE!!! Its simple!
The trick behind such shot is when you get out of the frame the light from your back starts coming into the camera and sensor keep on processing it. This results in fading effect of the removed item from the frame and in this case you or in case of this image ME!
The fade value will depend on the fact that how much time you spent in the frame. Now go out and make yourself a ghosty living being!
